There are eight basic Celtic knots, each with its own powerful meaning

Celtic knots are more than beautiful designs. They are ancient symbols woven with history, belief, and storytelling, passed down through generations.

1. Trinity Knot (Triquetra)

One of the oldest and most recognisable Celtic symbols. It represents three forces such as life, death and rebirth, or mind, body and spirit. An ancient symbol of three interlocking loops forming a triangle, representing concepts like eternity, unity, and the "power of three" across Celtic, Pagan, and Christian traditions. It symbolizes the Triple Goddess (Maiden, Mother, Crone) or the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) in religious contexts, and life, death, rebirth, or earth, water, sky in Celtic paganism, often with a protective circle. "Triquetra" means "three-cornered" in Latin. Design: Three interconnected arcs forming a knot with no beginning or end, often enclosed in a circle for added meaning. Celtic Paganism: Represents the Triple Goddess, the three stages of life (past, present, future), or the three realms (earth, sea, sky).

2. Spiral Knot

A symbol of eternal life and continuous growth. It reminds us that life is always moving, changing, and evolving.

3. Sailor’s Knot

Originally created by sailors to remember loved ones back home. It represents loyalty, love, and unbreakable bonds.

4. Dara Knot (Oak Tree Knot)

Inspired by the oak tree, which was sacred in Celtic culture. This knot stands for inner strength, resilience, and wisdom.

5. Shield Knot

Used for protection against harm or negative forces. Traditionally placed in homes or carried into battle.

6. Celtic Cross

A powerful blend of ancient Celtic belief and Christianity, symbolising faith, balance, and connection between worlds.

7. Solomon’s Knot

With no beginning or end, it represents eternity, unity, and divine connection.

8. Celtic Love Knot

Two intertwined paths forming one design. A timeless symbol of love, commitment, and partnership.
